Logitech is very popular when it comes to providing not only good quality gaming peripherals with their G series gaming lineup, but also for offering good quality sounding audio devices with their Z series lineup. Today, we are taking a look at the lower end of the spectrum with the super affordable Logitech Z120 Stereo Speakers.
The Logitech Z120 speakers have been out for several years now but If you haven’t heard of it and you’re looking for a good pair of speakers for your laptop desk setup, then this is the perfect time for you.

Design and Construction
While searching for a pair of compact speakers for my laptop, my main objective was to find one with decent aesthetics that will match my desk setup with a little bit of flexibility to match another desk setup that I might pursue in the future. The Logitech Z120 ticks this particular box, It has this nice modern curvy design with the black and white colorway, which I think can fit on most desk setup.
In front, it has this fusion of matt black and glossy finish around the speaker unit itself.
The right side speaker has the volume knob that also doubles as a power switch and has a power LED indicator beside it.
The left side is pretty much the same but instead of the volume knob, it has a subtle Logitech logo on it.
The overall construction of the speakers is pretty solid, housed in this matte white hard plastic shell that has a substantial weight to it, making it a little bit more premium.
The speakers itself is slightly angled which is appreciated to help direct the sound towards your ears.
At the back, we have this well thought out cable management channel. The cables itself are not that long because these speakers are actually meant to be used on laptops. The cable management I think is for when you want to bring these speakers along with you when you’re on the go, making it easier to tuck inside your bag without having the wires tangled.
And finally, at the bottom, we have this nice rubber padding that will help these speakers stay in place, especially during vibration.
Interface
The Logitech Z120 Stereo Speakers is powered by a USB port and can be connected via 3.5mm for audio.
And since this uses a 3.5mm interface, aside from your PC and laptop, you can also use this with pretty much everything that has a 3.5mm port, from smartphones to tablets to any other multimedia devices. You can easily power this up by using a power bank or a standard wall adapter.
Sound Quality
Now, when it comes to sound quality, the Logitech Z120 Speakers provides decent audio more so than you might expect for its price. Considering its fairly small form factor, it also does pack enough bass to keep a balanced overall sound. The mids and highs are clear enough for my taste and I’m personally satisfied with the audio output these pair of speakers can produce.
When it comes to volume levels, it can get pretty loud and can fill up our relatively medium sized room. And for my testing and tolerance to volume, I feel like the sweet spot for these speakers are around 70%, more than that and it starts to get unpleasant, not to mention that the speakers itself are obviously having a hard time pumping at the maximum volume.

Will I Recommend This? Yes!
To conclude, I think this is one of the best set of speakers that you can use to replace your built-in laptop speakers. The audio coming from these speakers are very decent enough for its price, I’m also surprised that it actually able to provide an ample amount of bass considering its form factor. The cool looking modern design is also a plus for me and the black and white colorway can suit any type of desk setup. If you’re going to use this for music, videos, gaming, and whatnot, I think you’re going to be satisfied with this providing that you set your expectations right.
