MY EARLY BREAKDOWN

Pros: Cheap alternative to Google Chromecast, Good build quality, Revives your old TV

 Cons: Needs a little bit of effort and tinkering to setup (don’t worry I made a step by step tutorial here)

FULL REVIEW

Design:

The Anycast M2 Plus Dongle is made from plastic. It’s design is obviously similar to the one it’s imitating, the Google Chromecast V1.

It’s construction and size is also similar to a regular flash drive. It’ll fit perfectly at the back of the TV when connected through the HDMI port.

At the bottom of the Anycast M2 Plus Dongle we have the micro USB port for power and wireless connectivity.

At the side we have the Mode button to toggle between Mirroring and Streaming modes.

Attached to the micro USB cable is the wireless receiver, it will allow you to connect your Anycast M2 Plus Dongle to your Router.

Anycast Functionality:

There’s a lot of confusing terms out there with regards to the modes (e.g. miracast, airplay, chromecast, DLNA, etc.) but it usually breaks down to these two:
Mirroring: allows you to copy the display of your screen to your TV

Streaming: allows you to watch local or online content from your device to your TV but still able to use your device normally.

VERDICT


WILL I RECOMMEND THIS?: Yes!

Our old LCD TV was collecting dust because we don’t have an antenna/cable connected to it, so it’s not usable at all. The initial plan is to buy a TV Box but then I realize we don’t actually watch local TV and it’s definitely out of Our Target Budget. 

So I searched for the best option and stumbled upon Google Chromecast, and again, it’s out of our target budget so I had to look further. I found the Anycast M2 Plus Dongle, got enough research about it’s functionality and user feedback and went on to get one. 

It’s definitely one of my best purchase so far for the price point. Not only did I revive our old LCD TV but we now have the motivation to watch movies and relax. 

By the way, you can also use the Anycast M2 Plus Dongle on your existing Smart TV if your current Smart TVs software is outdated and doesn’t have other apps available.
