Tronsmart PBT10 Presto 10000mAh Quick Charge 3.0 Power Bank Review

I recently did a quick unboxing and comparison of the Tronsmart PBT10 Presto 10000mAh power bank alongside the Tronsmart PBT12 Presto 10400mAh power bank here and after a week of testing, I’m finally ready to release my full review of the Tronsmart PBT10.

The Tronsmart PBT10 is a feature-packed power bank that supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0, Huawei’s FCP (Fast Charger Protocol) and VoltIQ Technology and is capable of charging up to 4X faster than a regular power bank.

FULL REVIEW

Design and Construction

The Tronsmart PBT10 comes with a very solid packaging with a magnetic flap like what we saw with the Tronsmart Element T2 Bluetooth speaker, which is a very well appreciated thing when it comes to packaging. It just shows that the brand pays attention to details and quality of their product.

In terms of design and construction, It feels really good in the hand with the smooth rubber matte finish and has a very solid construction made of hard plastic materials. However, I feel like the rubber matte finish is a little bit susceptible to scratches and smudges in the long run. But I would still prefer this design compared to something like a slippery glossy plastic finish.

Technology and Features

Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0

The Tronsmart PBT10 supports Quick Charge 3.0, so smartphones compatible with this feature can take full advantage of this technology. Quick charge 3.0 employs intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage, an algorithm which allows your portable device to determine what power level to request at any point in time, enabling optimum power transfer while maximizing efficiency. VoltIQ Technology

The Tronsmart PBT10 also adapts the VoltIQ Technology on its ports. VoltIQ automatically adjusts amperage and wattage to the maximum ratio required by the device, so that more current-hungry devices are not starved and less current-hungry devices are not over-allocated resources. Huwaei FCP Technology

One very unique feature of the Tronsmart PBT10 is it’s compatible with Huawei’s FCP (Fast Charger Protocol) Technology. It’s basically their own implementation of the quick charge feature. Click here to learn more about FCP.

Ports

The Tronsmart PBT10 Presto 10000mAh power bank has 3 ports. 1 input, and 2 output.

Referring to the image below, first, we have the black USB Type A port that has VoltIQ technology on it, next, we have the micro USB port for charging the power bank itself, and the green USB Type A port which indicates it’s Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 + VoltIQ compatible. That same green port also supports Huawei’s FCP (Fast Charger Protocol) technology.

Supported Input and Output Amperage and Voltage

The micro USB port for charging the power bank itself supports 5V/3A, 9V/2A, and 12V/1.5

The VoltIQ USB port (black) supports 5V/2.4A and the Quick Charge 3.0, VoltIQ and Huawei FCP port (green) supports 5V/3A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A

Charging Performance

Now, when it comes to the real-world charging performance, the Tronsmart PBT10 did not disappoint.

I tested this first on my sister’s Huawei P10 to make sure it really does support Huawei’s FCP technology.

I first plugged it in on the black USB port which doesn’t support FCP and as expected, it’s only charging at normal speed.

And then I connected it to the green USB port which supports FCP, and the status changed into fast charging. It took only around 1.5 hours to fully charge the Huawei P10 from 10%-100% which for me is very much acceptable.

On the other hand, charging my entry-level Xiaomi Redmi 5A that only supports 5V/1A took me around 2.5 hours from 18%-100%.

And to make sure all the ports work as intended at the rated amperage and voltage, I tested it fully on different devices including my entry-level Xiaomi Redmi 5A.

As mentioned, my Xiaomi Redmi 5A only supports 5V/1A and the Tronsmart PBT10 delivered just that, maybe a tick lower at 5.12V/.9A which is still very acceptable.

I also tested the other port which gave us pretty much the same result.

Next, I tested it on a generic Chinese tablet to see how the voltIQ works with different devices that require different power. With the tablet, we got 5.17V/1.2A power delivery.

And then I tested it as well to charge another power bank and we’ve got 5.14V/1.81A power delivery.

I also wanted to make sure that both ports can deliver the maximum power it can provide, so I plugged it in on the Tronsmart PBT12 which support input power of up to 5V/3A and the Tronsmart PBT10 was able to deliver just that via the green port that can provide 5V/3A.

And of course, I also tested it on the black port which can provide up to 5V/2.4A, and as expected at this point, it was able to provide just that as well.

tronsmart 10000mah quick charge powerbank review

The Tronsmart PBT10 can charge my phone approximately at least 3 times, which is sufficient enough to last me for a day without plugging my phone into a wall adaptor. Once the power bank is almost out of juice, the LED indicator will start blinking.

Now, when it comes to charging the Tronsmart PBT10 10000mAh power bank itself, as per specifications, it can support these input power delivery: 5V/3A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A and that would depend on the capability of the charging device you are going to use.

In this case, I used the Tronsmart PBT12 to charge the Tronsmart PBT10 and we’ve got 9.1V/1.96A which took us around 6 hours give or take to fully charge the Tronsmart PBT10.

VERDICT

Will I Recommend This? Yes!

If you want to charge your device fast efficiently and safely, then the Tronsmart PBT10 is the perfect power bank for you. With multiple charging technologies built-in, this power bank can cater to all sorts of devices, whether it’s just an entry-level smartphone or a flagship one, it will take advantage of the smart and efficient voltIQ technology. And if you have a quick charge 3.0 capable smartphone or a Huawei FCP compatible one, then there’s no reason why you wouldn’t want to consider this power bank.
