I have reviewed a couple of Tronsmart Bluetooth speakers before with the Tronsmart Element T2 and the Tronsmart Element Splash and so far, quite honestly, I have nothing but good things to say about their audio devices, they work well as advertised, the build quality is good and the sound quality is decent for its price. So when Tronsmart asked me If I want to check out their new Tronsmart Encore Spunky Buds, of course, I said yes.
The Tronsmart Encore Spunky Buds feature True Wireless Stereo mode which basically allows two earbuds to pair as one and work in stereo mode, we’re going to take a look at it today and give you guys everything you need to know about these earbuds.

Design and Construction (CASE)
In terms of the design and construction of the casing, it’s well built, albeit made of plastic, it feels durable enough with a decent weight to it. The size is a little bit on the larger side though compared to other casing out there but it’s still super portable and fits nicely on a pocket.
It has a cool looking textured pattern up top with the Tronsmart logo at the center that matches the pattern on the earbuds itself, more on that later.
At the side, we have the micro USB port for charging,
Turn it a bit and you’ll see the 4 LED indicator for battery level,
And turn it even more and you’ll see the button to open up the case.
The cover of the case opens up in a swiveling manner which I find very satisfying to play with.
Design and Construction (Earbuds)
As I’ve mentioned, the textured pattern on the casing matches the pattern on the earbuds itself which I can definitely appreciate. The size of the earbuds is also on the larger side but I think it’s because of the touch control feature which we are going to discuss later.
The build quality of the earbuds itself is decent, its made of hard plastic materials with a rubber hook, which by the way is removable if you don’t find it comfortable. The ear tip is also replaceable with different sizes which are included on the package.
At the back of the earbud, we have the 2 charging connections that will magnetically connect with the two prongs inside the charging case, the magnets are actually strong making sure the earbuds stay in place while you carry the case along with you.
We can also see at the back of the earbud two labels indicating which side it is so it’s impossible for you to get confused.
And lastly, on the left side earbud, we have the built-in microphone for answering calls.
Functions and Gesture Controls
In terms of functions and controls, the left side earbud would be the main unit that will be connecting to your device while the right side will be connected to your device once the left side is paired successfully. Both earbuds support touch control, so if you want to play or pause just tap once, and if you want to skip track just tap twice. The same gesture goes for answering and rejecting calls but only on the left side, to answer a call you just have to tap once and if you want to reject the call just tap twice.
Bluetooth Pairing and Connectivity
Pairing the Tronsmart Encore Spunky Buds is super easy, in fact, it’s one of the things I really like about this earbuds. Once you removed the earbuds from the casing it will automatically turn on and go to pairing mode, all you have to do is turn on the Bluetooth on your device, pair it, and you’re good to go.
Now, every time you remove the earbuds from the case, as long as the Bluetooth connectivity is turned on on your device, it will immediately connect to it before you even finish putting the earbuds on your ears, which I find very convenient. Once you’re done using the earbuds, you can just pop it back inside the case to turn it off and keep it charged at all times.
Another thing, there would be a number of voice prompts that you’re going to hear once you remove the earbuds from the casing, like “power on”, “discovering”, “connected”, “left channel”, “right channel” and “pairing successful”. I know it sounds like a handful but it does happen very quickly, and it’s also nice to have this feature to give you an idea what’s happening.
As with any device with Bluetooth 4.2, the connectivity is decent and stable for the most part unless you go in between walls from your source device. I didn’t encounter any significant issues with it since I always have my phone in my pocket while using it, which ideally would be the common scenario when using these earbuds.
True Wireless Stereo Feature
The Tronsmart Encore Spunky buds feature True Wireless Stereo mode like some of their other Bluetooth speakers. This means that the two individual earbuds will pair together as one and work in stereo mode giving you a high fidelity stereo experience.
Battery Life
In terms of battery life, both the earbuds have 50mAh battery while the casing has a decent 470mAh capacity. As per my testing, I was able to fully charge the casing for just around 1.5 hours using a fast charger while the earbuds itself was able to recharge inside the case for around 1.5 hours as well.
A full charge lasted for 3 hours at 75% volume on continuous music playback and I was able to recharge the earbuds inside the case for approximately 3 times.
I tested all the charging time twice with virtually the same results. Overall the battery life is decent and with the charging case, it can last you practically the whole day.
IPX5 Water Resistant
The Tronsmart Encore Spunky Buds is an IPX5 water resistant, which means it can withstand splashes of water as hard as a nozzle, so you can definitely use this while working out or running outside without any issues.
Microphone Quality
The microphone quality is quite adequate, I was able to hear my wife very clear without any distortion and vice versa. This can easily pass for any casual communications on the go.
Sound Quality
And lastly with regards to sound quality, the Tronsmart Spunky Buds is actually quite good and balanced for the most part, the mids and highs are clear and the bass is clean, definitely there but not over the top. The volume levels are well controlled and can get pretty loud, but I would suggest staying around 75-85% volume. Sound isolation is pretty good as well, you won’t hear anything around you at all while listening to music, so take precautions when using this outside.
VERDICT
Will I Recommend This? Yes!
In conclusion, what I like the most about this earphones is the seamless true wireless stereo experience, no power button, no wires, you just simply take out the earbuds and it will quickly connect to your recent device before you even finish putting it on your ears. And once you’re done, you can simply put it back to the case and it will be recharged, one of the most convenient wireless earphones that I’ve experienced so far. The sound quality is also good to top it all off. What I don’t like about this, however, is the lack of further gesture controls other than tapping considering the size of the earbuds, I would appreciate if it does have something like swiping to go back and forth tracks or adjust the volume right from the earbuds. Other than that, my experience with this is really great and I am going to use this as my daily driver now.
