Just a few days ago, I shared with you my Unboxing and First Impressions of the ZenBook Flip S UX371EA and I figured, why not take a look at the rest of the latest ZenBook 2020 lineup and see why they are “The Best Versatile Thin and Light Laptops in 2020”.
Recently, ASUS released three new ZenBooks in the form of the ASUS ZenBook S, the ASUS ZenBook Flip 13, and the ASUS ZenBookFlip S. All of them are powered by the latest Intel 11th Gen processors and Intel Iris Xe Graphics. But aside from those powerful hardware, they also boast versatile features such as the 360° ErgoLift hinge which essentially allows you to prop the display at any angle that you want depending on your preference and use case scenarios and they also feature version 2.0 of the ASUS NumberPad which takes advantage of the trackpad’s real-estate to double as a fully functional numpad. But most importantly, all of them feature a color-accurate display that makes them the ultimate versatile productivity thin and light laptop, so let’s check them out!
Let’s start with the ASUS ZenBook S UX393EA.
What’s interesting with the ASUS ZenBook S UX393EA is its resolution and aspect ratio that ASUS claims “The World’s Thinnest and Lightest 3:2 3.3K Laptop”. It features a 3:2 aspect ratio with a 3300 x 2200 resolution and features 4-sided NanoEdge design taking full advantage of the laptop’s screen real-estate.
This essentially means that you’ll have a wider field of view and a larger workspace. The possibility is endless from reading texts, writing content up to media consumption and gaming.
The ASUS ZenBook S is also quite ideal for any professional photo and video editing as well as graphics work as it features a reliable color-accurate display with a wide 100% DCI-P3 and 133% sRGB color gamut. In addition, It’s also PANTONE Validated for color accuracy, and TÜV Rheinland-certified for eye care. Not to mention the 92% screen to body ratio is something we rarely see on laptops. Did I mention that the display is touchscreen and can reach up to 500nits of brightness? well, yeah, that too!
Partnered with the awesome display is, of course, a set of highly capable hardware specifications inside including the 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor and Intel Xe Graphics. Out of the box, it already has a quite substantial 16GB 4266mhz RAM and 1TB NVME M.2 SSD and features the latest WiFi 6 Technology with Bluetooth 5.0.
In terms of ports, we have two thunderbolt 4 USB Type C ports, a standard HDMI 1.4 port, a USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A port, and a micro SD card reader.
It also packs a decent 67 Wh of battery that could last up to 12 hours give or take. Aside from that, It also has a 3D IR camera that supports windows hello which is quite convenient and awesome especially the fact that they were able to squeeze the camera in a very tight thin bezel.
And lastly, the ASUS ZenBook S features the ASUS NumberPad version 2.0. A nifty feature that uses the trackpad’s surface to also function as a numpad. It is definitely a good use of space and one of the reasons why ASUS ZenBook laptops are super versatile.
All this powerful hardware is packed inside a 15.7mm thin chassis that weighs only around 1.35kg.
Next, we have the ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 UX363EA which is sort of the middle ground among our three choices here. It features a good balance between price to performance and features ratio.
The ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 as ASUS claims is “The World’s Thinnest 13-inch Convertible Laptop” so as you can see, we have a trend here that each of these three awesome thin and light laptops offers something unique on its own. And being the world’s thinnest 13″ convertible laptop, the ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 features a footprint of only around 13.9mm and 1.3kg.
Now, like the ASUS ZenBook S, the display of the ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 is also color-accurate with 100% DCI-P3 and sRGB color gamut. It features a 13.3″ LED-Backlit Full-HD 1920x1080p panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio and also features 3.9mm NanoEdge Touchscreen display.
Aside from that, a convertible thin and light laptop should have a meaningful purpose right? so the ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 features a 360° ErgoLift hinge with a stepless design that will allow you to prop the screen at any angle that you want depending on your use case scenario, may it be for writing, drawing, or perhaps data presentation. And with an included pressure-sensitive ASUS Pen, your imagination is your limit when it comes to productivity and artwork.
Now, coming in at the middle of the pack in terms of price to performance and features ratio, the ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 still packs some capable hardware inside with an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor and Intel Xe graphics, and out of the box, we have 8GB of 4266Mhz RAM and 512GB NVME SSD. It’s not as top-of-the-line as the ASUS ZenBook S but it’s definitely decent for its price considering that this one is a thin and light convertible.
In terms of input and output ports, we have 2 thunderbolt 4 USB type C ports, 1 USB 3.2Gen 1 Type-A port, and a standard HDMI port.
Aside from that, we also have the ASUS NumberPad 2.0 which again takes advantage of the trackpad’s real estate for its secondary numpad functionality.
And like any other ASUS ZenBook on our lineup, the ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 also features a dual-speaker with Harman Kardon certified audio system.
It also has an IR webcam with Windows Hello support and features the latest Intel WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.
And lastly, it also packs a 67Wh battery that could last up to 14 hours with fast charge support via the USB-C port.
Last but not the least, we have the ASUS ZenBook Flip S UX371EA which in my opinion, the best among all three ASUS ZenBooks that we have right here and probably one of the best thin and light convertible laptop with a 4K OLED display.
The ASUS ZenBook Flip S like the ZenBook S and ZenBook Flip 13 is also one of its kind. As per ASUS, it is “The World’s Thinnest OLED Convertible Laptop” and is only around 13.9mm thin and weighs about 1.2kg which is the lightest among the three but has the best hardware specifications inside.
Now, what makes the ASUS ZenBook Flip S stand out from the rest is that it is a no-compromise, super versatile thin and light laptop that packs top-of-the-line hardware specifications starting with the latest 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics, and like the ASUS ZenBook S, it also has a substantial 16GB 4266mhz RAM and 1TB NVME M.2 SSD out of the box.
But what makes it even better is the outstanding display which features a 13.3″ 4K OLED with the same slim-bezel NanoEdge touchscreen and 360° ErgoLift hinge. It has ultra-vivid Pantone validated color accuracy and a cinema-grade 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and is VESA DisplayHDR 500 certified. This essentially means that you’ll have deep blacks, decent contrast, saturation, viewing angles, and that you can rely on the color accuracy of this display for any professional photo and video editing.
In my honest opinion, display quality is one of the most important aspects of a laptop, since 90% of the time, you’ll be looking at the display and everything you do should rely on the accuracy and quality of the panel itself.
And with a touchscreen display and an included stylus pen, like with the ASUS ZenBook Flip 13, imagination is your limit when it comes to productivity and artwork.
Aside from that, thanks to the 360° ErgoLift hinge, you can prop the display at any angle that you want, and with much more powerful hardware inside, you can do more.
In terms of input and output ports, we also have 2 Thunderbolt 4 USB Type C ports, 1 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, and 1 standard HDMI port.
And like all ASUS ZenBooks on our lineup, the ASUS ZenBook Flip S also has the ASUS NumberPad version 2.0,
Dual-speaker Harman Kardon certified audio system, IR webcam with Windows Hello support, Intel WiFi 6 with Bluetooth 5.0,
And 67Wh of battery that can last up to 15 hours of battery life.
